Study AI

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

Study AI turns your course material into deadlines, flashcards, quizzes and AI study help. It is run by an individual in Ontario, Canada. This page explains, in plain language, what the app keeps, why, and what choices you have.

The short version: your study data belongs to you, we do not sell it, and there are no advertising trackers anywhere in Study AI.

What we collect

Your account. Your email address, given to and stored by Supabase Auth. Your password is handled by Supabase and stored as a secure hash. We never see it.

Files you upload. Syllabi and study documents (PDF and Word files) you add to Study AI, kept in private storage under your account. Only someone signed in as you can open them.

Your study data. The courses, deadlines, flashcard decks and cards, quizzes, quiz attempts, written answers and grading results you create. This lives in the Study AI database.

Small usage counts. When you open or actively use a feature, we record the feature name and the action only, like “flashcards, used”. Never titles, text, file names or anything you typed. We use these counts to decide which features are worth improving.

Notifications. If you turn notifications on, we store your browser’s push subscription, which is an endpoint address plus encryption keys, so study reminders can reach your device. You can turn notifications off again at any time in Settings.

Things that stay on your device. Handwritten notes, lecture recordings, PDF annotations and decks downloaded for offline use are stored in your browser on your device. They are never sent to our servers. One exception: when you tap “transcribe” on a recording, that audio is sent to be turned into text, as explained below.

Who processes your data

Three services run Study AI:

  • Supabase handles accounts and stores your uploaded files.
  • Google Gemini powers the AI features. When you use one, the content you submit for it (a document, a photo of a problem, audio you ask to transcribe, a question you type) is sent to Gemini so it can produce the answer. Do not send an AI feature anything you are not comfortable sharing with Google for processing.
  • Vercel hosts the website.

Each of them sees only what it needs to do its job. For the services themselves, their own privacy terms also apply.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your data.
  • We do not show ads.
  • We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
  • We do not read your files or answers to learn about you. The usage counts described above are the only measuring we do.

Cookies

Study AI uses one kind of cookie: the one Supabase sets to keep you signed in. It is essential, meaning the site cannot work without it, and it is never used to follow you around the internet.

How long we keep it

Your files and study data stay until you remove them. You can delete individual files inside the app at any time, and you can delete your entire account, including your sign-in, in Settings. When it is gone, it is gone; we do not keep secret copies for any other purpose.

Your choices

  • See and fix your data. Nearly everything in Study AI is visible and editable right in the app.
  • Delete it. Delete single files in the app, or delete your whole account in Settings.
  • Notifications. Turn them off in Settings, or in your browser, whenever you like.
  • Ask us. Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) gives you the right to ask what personal information we hold about you and to have it corrected. Use the contact below. If we cannot sort out a concern, you can also contact the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Keeping it safe

Accounts are kept separate by design: your files are stored under your account only, downloads check which account is asking, and sign-in is required for every part of the app except these few public pages. No system is perfect, but we have built Study AI so that one person’s workspace never leaks into another’s.

If this policy changes, we will update this page and note the new date at the top. If a change is significant, we will flag it inside the app as well.
